Under the Tractor Financing Initiative, land requirements are considered according to the type of farming activity, not land size alone. The key consideration is whether the farmer can use a tractor productively and generate reliable income.
In general:
* Broad or staple crop farming usually requires larger land areas, around 20 hectares.
* Farmers with a stable secondary income may qualify with about 10 hectares.
* High‑value crop farmers, such as those growing vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, or other intensive crops, may qualify with as little as 2.47 acres (about 1 hectare).
Land may be owned, leased, or communal, provided the farmer has authorised access.
