LESOTHO’S INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IS NEARING COMPLETION OF A MAJOR RENOVATION, SET TO DEBUT WITH A MODERN LOOK.

”Construction work on the rehabilitation of Moshoeshoe I International Airport is progressing smoothly and has reached the halfway stage”
This was said by the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Matjato Moteane in an interview with the Agency when commenting on the progress of the rehabilitation of the airport.
He said the installation of glass on the airport terminal is currently underway, giving the building a modern new look although substantial work still needs to be done inside the terminal.
“A lot of work remains to be done in the interior of the airport, and we expect it to be completed by the end of this financial year,” he said.
He added that the airfield and lighting system are also scheduled for upgrades as part of the rehabilitation project.
He also expressed hope that the airport will be in good condition by September, reminding that the project experienced unexpected setbacks after heavy storms on December 31 last year which caused damage, resulting in repair work that delayed progress by nearly two months.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport was allocated M108 million for the upgrading of the airport in the 2025/2026 financial year.
