The Right Honourable Speaker of the Lesotho Parliament, Hon. Tlohang Sekhamane lead a delegation on a South-South learning exchange to Gambia to explore the Government Development Financing (GDF) approach, a government-led financing modality that strengthens the delivery of national development priorities through strategic partnerships with UNDP.
As part of the programme, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Minister of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery, and the Honourable Secretary to Cabinet & Head of Civil Service of The Gambia.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Government of The Gambia and UNDP in implementing the Programme for Accelerated Community Development (PACD) a flagship government initiative delivered through the GDF modality.
The Right Honourable Speaker expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality and the valuable insights shared, highlighting the importance of learning from The Gambia’s experience in strengthening public service delivery and financing national development.
The Gambian leadership encouraged the delegation to apply the lessons from the exchange to advance development outcomes in Lesotho and emphasized the value of continued South-South cooperation.
Through exchanges such as these, Lesotho continues to deepen regional collaboration, share innovative development solutions, and strengthen national capacity to mobilize and manage financing for sustainable development.
