AFRICA UNITES FOR A DIGITALLY EMPOWERED FUTURE: LESOTHO WRAPS UP DTS VALIDATION WORKSHOP

The Validation Workshop on the Assessment of the Digital Transformation Strategy (DTS) 2020–2030 Implementation in Africa concluded successfully in Maseru, Lesotho — marking a significant milestone in advancing the continent’s digital transformation agenda.
In his closing remarks, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mr Kanono Ramashamole commended delegates from across Africa and the African Union for their active engagement, collaboration, and visionary leadership throughout the three-day meeting.
The workshop reaffirmed the continent’s collective commitment to building an inclusive, integrated, and innovative digital Africa. Discussions explored key areas including digital skills, infrastructure, innovation, e-governance, and the creation of the African Digital Single Market — all essential to achieving Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.
The PS applauded the efforts behind the DTS Monitoring Dashboard, a vital tool for tracking progress, identifying gaps, and fostering accountability across Member States. He also emphasized the importance of integrating traditional sectors, such as postal services, into digital ecosystems to ensure that no one is left behind.
“Digital transformation is not just about technology; it is about people, inclusion, and shared prosperity,” he stressed.
As the meeting concluded, Lesotho reaffirmed its commitment to the continental digital agenda through its National Digital Transformation Strategy and continued investment in digital public infrastructure.
The gathering closed with a shared sense of purpose — to ensure that Africa’s digital transformation is people-centred, inclusive, and sustainable.
