The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relation, Mr Lejone Mpotjoane, officially launched the African Development Bank Group’s Lesotho Country Strategy Paper (CSP) 2025–2030, aimed at accelerating national development. The launch happened in Maseru on Wednesday.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Mpotjoane commended the Bank’s continued support to various projects in Lesotho and noted that the new strategy will open more opportunities for growth and help unlock the country’s potential.
He highlighted key priority areas including Energy, Water, ICT, resource mobilization, and industrialization. He added that Lesotho’s natural resources can support the development of new industries and strengthen the economy.
The Minister further noted that the strategy incorporates cross-cutting themes such as climate, resilience, gender equality, youth empowerment, and employment creation to ensure inclusive and sustainable development.
He emphasized that if properly implemented, the CSP will drive sustainable growth, create opportunities and improve the livelihoods of Basotho.
The CSP 2025–2030 sets the framework for continued collaboration between Lesotho and the African Development Bank over the next five years, with a strong focus on boosting economic growth and national development.
