In a bid to sensitize High Commissioners and Ambassadors on Lesotho’s foreign policy and national priorities in line with the evolving global geo-political environment, the government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations will host Diplomatic consultations from today (May 26) to June 03.
This is according to the media statement from the Ministry which states that the said personnel will participate in media related programmes while in the country on set dates.
It says the consultations are for the High Commissioners and Ambassadors to be well vexed to a new mandate from the government.
Meanwhile the consultations will be aired on both national television and radio programmes including Ts’ets’etha from Monday to Wednesday, Seotlong on Thursday and Special Segment on Friday as well as Seboping from Monday to Friday.
Lesotho currently maintains about 14 diplomatic representations worldwide, including embassies and high commissions. These missions are spread across various countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, China, and India.
Lesotho’s foreign policy prioritizes maintaining international peace and security, fostering friendly relations with nations, and achieving international cooperation on economic, social, and cultural issues. It also aims to promote respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. Lesotho’s foreign policy is guided by its Constitution, Vision 2020, and the UN Charter.
