Prime Minister Ntsokoane Samuel Matekane has arrived in New York for the 2025 United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The UNGA’s High-Level Week takes place from 22-30 September, with a series of key events focused on global issues.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, under the theme: “Better Together: 80 Years and More for Peace, Development, and Human Rights.”
The High-Level Week will commemorate several significant milestones, including:
– The 80th Anniversary of the United Nations
– The 30th Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women
– A Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Moment
– The First Biennial Summit for a Sustainable, Inclusive, and Resilient Global Economy, focusing on financing for development.
Additionally, key discussions will address vital global challenges such as:
– Climate Action
– The Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases
– The Promotion of Mental Health and Well-being
– The 30th Anniversary of the World Programme of Action for Youth, as mandated by UN General Assembly resolutions.
