HIS MAJESRTY GETS AN AWARD

The Africa Water Investment Summit taking place in Cape Town has honored His Majesty King Letsie III for his exceptional leadership in championing the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP).
The project was recognized as a continental model for transboundary cooperation for peace, resilience, and sustainable development.
The prestigious award was received by the Minister of Natural Resources, Mr Mohlomi Moleko, on behalf of His Majesty.  It recognized King Letsie`s vision in promoting one of Africa’s most successful water infrastructure projects, which for decades has strengthened cooperation between the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Republic of South Africa.
The LHWP not only delivers vital water to millions in South Africa and generates clean hydropower for Lesotho, but also fosters trust, economic interdependence, and stability across borders.
Lesotho’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, Ms Ntsiuoa Sekete, hailed the recognition as “a testament to what Africa can achieve through cooperation grounded in equity and mutual benefit.”
She underscored that the LHWP demonstrates how infrastructure investments can be transformative drivers for peace, economic growth, and climate resilience.
The Africa Water Investment Summit, brings together leaders, policymakers, and financiers, and aims to mobilize strategic investments to secure Africa’s water future in line with Agenda 2063 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
“Water is more than a resource; it is a bridge to peace and prosperity,” Ambassador Sekete said, concluding that Lesotho remains committed to advancing water diplomacy across the continent.
