4G-ENABLED DIGITAL LIBRARY UNVEILED FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITY IN MASERU.

The Ministry of Information, Communications, Science and Technology and Innovation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vodacom to promote digital inclusion for persons with disabilities.
The Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science and Technology and Innovation, Mr Kanono Ramashamole, signed the MoU with Vodacom at the State Library during the unveiling of a 4G-enabled digital library [insight centre] housed within the State library aimed for advancing digital inclusion for persons with disabilities.
The agreement outlines the roles of both parties in ensuring the maintenance and sustainability of the centre, with the partnership expected to run until 2029.
Through the partnership, Vodacom has equipped the centre with assistive technologies designed to improve access to information and digital services for persons with disabilities.
The equipment includes 10 computers, a Braille printer, assistive eye-tracking technology and a Vodacom projection system, all intended to support digital learning and accessibility within the centre.
The Insight Centre had been renovated and maintained to provide a modern and accessible learning environment and this
facility is expected to expand opportunities for persons with disabilities by enabling them access to information, digital skills and fully participation in today’s technology-driven society.
