The President of Germany, Mr Frank- Walter Steinmeier, says his visit in Lesotho demonstrates willingness to deepen further the existing relations between the two countries.
This he said in his statement during a round table meeting which brought together  the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) , the Ministers of Trade, that of Foreign Affairs, Transport, as well as the Minister of Energy amongst others including government dignitaries.
Mr Steinmeier said relations between the two countries are characterized by trust, saying they learn from each other and face challenges together.
He said challenges include climate change, promotion of democracy and economic development, adding that unity of Lesotho remains an inspiration. He also expressed his joy for visiting Lesotho when she is celebrating 200 years of her nation’s existence.
Speaking at the same event, Deputy Prime Minister Justice Nthomeng Majara said Mr Steinmeier’s visit will enable him to explore investment opportunities for both countries, saying the meeting paved the way for sectors of the economy in Lesotho.
She also said the forum served as a catalyst for both countries to transform their economies, for the betterment of their people,  commending the Lesotho Business sector for its participation as it showed readiness to adapt to the global business landscape.
Mr Steinmeier is the first German President to visit Lesotho and his visit follows an invitation from His Majesty King Letsie III on his visit to Berlin last year.
