The Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI) Convened with the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the National University of Lesotho to review progress on Lesotho’s Digital Public Infrastructure.
The meeting received a presentation on three key systems that will modernize government services:
– X-Road – to securely connect government ministries and enable electronic information sharing, reducing paperwork.
– MOSIP – to provide a secure biometric digital ID and improve access to public services.
– Decision Support System (DSS) – to help government analyze data for better planning, budgeting and service delivery.
The engagement highlighted the importance of collaboration between government and academia to build efficient, secure and citizen-focused digital systems that will eventually benefit entire Basotho nation.
The Ministry delegation led by The Principal Secretary Mr Kanono Ramashamole, reaffirmed its full commitment to support the initiative and provide resources for its profitable implementation.
