The digitization campaign of the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI) can be attained through the creation of more websites by various outlets countrywide.
These are the views of the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Information, Mr Kanono Ramashamole following the launch of UNDP E-Services outlets model in the country.
The total of 30 local E-Services outlets has seen their representatives completing a training so as to pave the way for effective implementation of the outlets model.
Therefore, the PS is adamant that as the government is looking forward to digitising at least over 1000 government services, companies are at par with readily available websites that can deliver services to clientele.
The Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI) says, as the globe is on digital transformation, it is vital that Lesotho is not left behind hence the digitisation campaign.
“Building the websites will go a long way in promoting clean online services, thus ensuring readily and quality service as such is the drive of the entire globe”. He stressed.
In the same note, those in the internet penetration spectrum have told the Agency how they welcome the move indicating the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) leaves Lesotho with no choice but to move forward as the world of technology is becoming dynamic day by day.
“As E-Services outlets, this to us is a considerable gesture and we are looking forward to seeing how best we can go about it”, Mr Ben Mosia of ‘Our Future Holding and Co in Mohale’s Hoek has said.
He has called on the government through the Ministry of Information to create an enabling environment so that this initiative becomes a success.
The 2024/35 budget has set aside over M160 million for ICT infrastructure development and strengthening digital transformation.
Therefore, the Ministry of Information is also on a campaign marking 200 years’ existence of the Basotho nation through digitisation initiatives, activities and projects hence the launch of Lerotholi Polytechnic UNIPOD amongst others recently.
