The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr Lejone Mpotjoane says the outgoing Africa Union Commission Chairperson Mr Moussa Faki Mahamat discussed several issues with His Majesty and Prime Minister during his visit to Lesotho.
He said this when briefing the media on Friday, following Mr Mahamat’s courtesy call to both the His Majesty King Letsie III and the Prime Minister.
He added that Lesotho acknowledged Mr Mahamat’s significant leadership and his role in advancing important initiatives within the AU.
“His visit reflects the strong ties between Lesotho and the African Union, and we are grateful for Mr Mahamat’s dedication to improving the lives of citizens across the continent,” Mr Mpojoane stated.
Furthermore, he highlighted that His Majesty King Letsie III is a prominent advocate for nutrition and children’s rights in Lesotho and serves as a Champion of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC).Thus, his efforts to address these issues underscore the importance of nurturing healthy children as vital to the continent’s future.
He also added that Mr Mahamat discussed responsibilities that African countries have to end conflicts and to cease fighting amongst themselves.
