The Government of Lesotho with the representation of the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Business Development Mr Thabo Moleko took part in the Aid For Trade Global Review for 2024 which was held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Aid for Trade Global Review entitled “Mainstreaming Trade and Development Strategies’ was held under the theme ‘Food Security, Digital Connectivity and Mainstreaming’.
On his presentation, Mr. Moleko showed that digitalization plays a multifaceted role in cross-border trade of goods.
He highlighted that increased digital connectivity and trade digitalization improve the ease and predictability of trading, reduce costs, and expand market access.
He further pointed out that digital technologies can also greatly deepen and accelerate the implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA).
Aid for Trade helps developing countries, particularly least developed countries, with trade. Many of them face a range of supply-side and trade-related infrastructure obstacles which constrains their ability to engage in international trade.
