The Minister of Information, Communication, Science, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Nthati Moorosi commended the People’s Republic of China for its continued support to government media institutions in Lesotho.
Speaking during the Lesotho News Agency (LENA) Journalists Awards Ceremony held in Maseru Hon. Moorosi indicated that the Chinese government through its Embassy in Lesotho has made a significant contribution to strengthening the country’s public media by providing essential equipment to institutions such as Lesotho Television (LTV) and the Lesotho News Agency (LENA).
She said that the support has enhanced the capacity of government media to effectively deliver timely, accurate and quality information to the public, while also enabling journalists to perform their duties more efficiently.
Hon. Moorosi noted that investment in media development is an investment in democracy, transparency and national development, adding that a well-equipped media sector is better positioned to inform, educate and empower citizens.
She further expressed gratitude for the long-standing partnership between Lesotho and China, saying the collaboration continues to contribute to the growth and modernization of the country’s communication sector.
The Minister also congratulated the journalists who were recognized during the awards ceremony, urging them to uphold professionalism, ethical reporting and excellence in journalism as they continue to serve the nation.
