His Majesty, King Letsie III, visited a Nutrition Club Exhibition at Mekaling Resource Centre in Mohale’s Hoek. The event was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition.
During his visit, the King honored a local Nutrition Club for producing healthy food and promoting good nutrition. He praised the growing awareness of nutrition among the Basotho people and encouraged increased food production to improve health and support Lesotho’s economy.
The King described their work as “vital” to the health and future of the nation. He said he was proud of how much the Basotho people are learning about nutrition. He urged more citizens to take part in food production that helps both health and economic growth.
“This is more than just feeding people—it’s about building a strong, self-reliant Lesotho,” His Majesty said.
His words inspired farmers and community members to continue their work. They felt encouraged, knowing their efforts helped the country grow. Malerato Lekhooa, the District Agricultural Officer of Mohale’s Hoek, led the exhibition. She showcased high-quality food produced in the district. She spoke about the importance of nutrition in health, education, and productivity. She called nutrition a basic right and urged the community to use local resources to build a better future.
Mr. Mokoteli Molomo, a representative of the Nutrition Club, also shared his thoughts. He explained how the club helps improve health, produce food, and create jobs for Basotho. He warmly welcomed His Majesty, calling him a true Champion of Nutrition. He said the King’s support gives them courage and confidence to continue their work. The visit strengthened the community’s commitment to creating a healthier and more self-reliant Lesotho.
