The Senate of Lesotho was established in 1966 and served as the upper house of Lesotho bicameral Parliament and it’s a unique body that bridges modern democracy with traditional governance consisting of 22 Principal Chiefs and 11 Members nominated by the King on the Prime Minister’s advice to review legislation.
Senate Proceedings were first conducted in a newly constructed senate Chamber at Mpilo, in Maseru District after Christmas recess.
