Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso launched the “Kick the Ball, Score a Goal for Life” fundraising campaign to support the medical expenses of young ‘Nete Leotlela, who sustained serious injuries after being attacked by dogs.
The campaign was launched by Her Majesty, who is the Chief Patron of Hlokomela Bana Association and Motseeo FC.
During the launch, Her Majesty performed the ceremonial first kick by placing the first “Goal for Life” donation envelope into the campaign collection box. According to the organizers, the gesture symbolized hope and solidarity with ‘Nete and other children and families facing difficult circumstances.
Speaking at the event, Hlokomela Bana Association representative Mrs ‘Mathakane Mohatlane said the organization, in partnership with Motseeo FC, undertook the initiative in response to Her Majesty’s call to action after learning about the challenges facing ‘Nete’s family.
She said Hlokomela Bana remains committed to fulfilling its mandate of supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged members of society by helping to meet their needs.
Motseeo FC President Mrs ‘Mapulane Phohleli, popularly known as “Freeze”, said the campaign is not only intended to assist ‘Nete but also to raise awareness of the challenges faced by other families experiencing similar hardships.
She appealed to Basotho to support the campaign so that ‘Nete’s medical expenses can be fully covered and the burden on his family eased.
The organizers said the fundraising campaign will be extended to other parts of the country in the coming days, with regular updates to be provided to the public.
