BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION GOES BIGGER

Celebrations associated with the 200 years of  Basotho as the nation seems are gaining momentum, the first Basotho Mega Music Festival bears testimony to this.

In an interview with one of the organizers, Advocate Makhetha Mots’oari, outlined that the event is an initiative of the government through the Ministry of Tourism, Gender, Sports, Arts and Culture,  aimed at showcasing Lesotho’s music talent, culture, practices and norms.

He said that it is done as a collaborative effort with at least 12 Basotho owned entertainment companies which are expected to bring on stage  Basotho artists from different genres.

Furthermore, Advocate Mots’oari  added that it is through this festival that Basotho and those in diaspora will get to reflect on how far the nation has come in terms of the music.

Echoing the same sentiments, Mr Ts’okolo Makeka said that through this event, Basotho will also be given a platform to showcase their products ranging from food, beverages and apparels, while also serving as a way of creating business opportunities and recognition for them.

He added that there will be fun parks that will be made in the North and Southern region whereby people who will be unable to attend the event will be able to get a feel of the festival.

On the same token, another organiser, Mr Montoeli ‘Moleli revealed that the festival’s lineup is going to be made up of 70 percent of local artists, with 20 percent from the SADC region while 10 percent will be of international performance.

He however mentioned that the line up for this event is yet to be finalized and revealed to the nation.
