Motorists are urged to be patient and drive slowly as much as they can as the snow continues to fall.
Road Safety Officer Mr Setsoto Putsoa appealed to motorists in an interview with LENA, to increase their following distances enough so that they could have plenty of time to stop for vehicles ahead of them.
“Motorists must be aware that the road is slippery due to snow and must be patient with one another and avoid overtaking” he added.
He also advised them to switch on lights so that they could be visible, encouraging those who are not forced by circumstances to leave their houses to stay indoors.
However, he indicated that although the snow began to fall in the highlands over the weekend, they have so far not received any report regarding road accidents caused by this weather conditions including fatalities.
Meanwhile, LENA has learnt the snow has been falling since morning in Maseru and it was business as usual based on traffic that was seen on the roads in the morning hours and some students, whose schools are not closed were seen going to school.
Reports from Lesotho Meteorological Services indicate that rain and snow are expected to fall in some parts of the country and the expected maximum temperature in Maseru is 10 degrees Celsius.
