”The Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI) plans are under way to have a youth channel aimed at addressing challenges in their space.”
This was publicly announced by the Minister of Information, Communication, Science, Technology and Innovation, Honourable Nthati Moorosi when addressing youth at the UniPod Creative Challenge 2026 Agenda held in Maseru. She was responding to the Creative Talk Show part of the programme titled ‘The Power of Creativity in Healing, Prevention and Youth Voice.’
According to the Minister, through this channel to be aired on Lesotho National Television before the end of 2027, the youth would be expected to share issues affecting them and seek solutions.
Welcoming this idea, a participant from the talk show representing the Ministry of Tourism, Mrs. ‘Mats’osane Molibeli highlighted the said channel will be functional if the youth come forth, feed content that will not only suit the interest of the youth in Maseru but remember even youth shepherds in different parts of the country get the message tailor-made for them.
In another story, issues of open and genuine communication also formed part of key strategies in tackling Gender-Based Violence, Substance Abuse and Mental Health as according to speakers participating in the talk show.
One of the youth partaking in the UniPod Creative Challenge 2026 Agenda, Ts’epo Mofana said he has chosen to be an artist so that he expresses messages of support to youth out there who are unable to do so, indicating going up he was an introvert and such affected him in various ways.
This talk show was moderated by Dr. Jacqueline Olweya, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Representative.
The UN reports have shown that Lesotho youth aged between 18 and 24 are faced with abuse, males and females having one way or the other experienced physical or emotional abuse.
