The Kingdom of Lesotho had the honour of hosting the Deputy Minister of the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs of Austria, H.E. Ambassador Nikolaus Marschik, during his official visit from 6–7 May 2026.
During his visit, Ambassador Marschik paid courtesy calls on the Deputy Prime Minister, Justice Nthomeng Majara, and the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Hon. Limpho Tau. The engagements provided an opportunity to reaffirm the longstanding and cordial relations between Lesotho and Austria, which date back to 1966.
Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in key priority areas, including:
Lesotho expressed appreciation for Austria’s continued support through initiatives in renewable energy, education, and social development, as well as its contributions through the European Union and the United Nations.
The visit further highlighted the importance of enhancing investment, promoting skills development, and advancing sustainable development for mutual benefit.
