The Minister of Labour and Employment, Hon. Tseliso Mokhosi highlighted progress in migration governance, anti-trafficking efforts, and labour mobility partnerships with South Africa and Gulf countries.
He stressed that migration should be driven by opportunity, not poverty or climate pressures.
On the sidelines of the forum, Lesotho and Qatar agreed to fast-track a Bilateral Labour Agreement and expand cooperation in tourism, healthcare, technology, and logistics.
Qatar also expressed interest in Lesotho’s water-sector projects and job opportunities for Basotho in its sports and mega-events industry.
Minister Mokhosi also held high-level meetings with the United Arab Emirates, Germany, and the Kyrgyz Republic to advance ethical recruitment, migrant worker protection, and overseas employment opportunities for Basotho.
