The Government of Lesotho has appointed Mr. Thabo Sekonyela as the new Government Spokesperson and Mr. Khosi Makubakube as the Coordinator of Parliamentary Affairs with effect from August 01.

Speaking in an interview with the Agency on Monday, the Director of Public Relations at the Prime Minister’s Office, Ms. Refiloe Kepa said the Government Spokesperson is responsible for communicating government policies, programmes and initiatives to the public through media channels.

Ms. Kepa stated that the role requires the individual to always represent the Government positively and professionally to the media and the public.

She added that the Government Spokesperson also responds to inquiries from media outlets about government actions and decisions.

Ms. Kepa highlighted that Mr. Makubakube who is appointed as the Coordinator of Parliamentary Affairs will be responsible for coordinating issues of the communities to the parliament and those from the parliament to the public.

She added that he will also be working on other issues such as developing a strong network of parliamentary processes and activities to deliver to the communities.

Mr. Sekonyela comes in as the successor of Mr. Nthakeng Selinyane while Mr. Makubakube comes in as the successor of Mr. Moeketsi Shale.
