US BACKS LESOTHO’S FIGHT AGAINST HIV AS THE 2ND ROUND OF LENACAPAVIR DONATION LANDED.

Chargé d’Affaires Tom Hines and Ministry of Health’s Acting Director General Dr Lucy Mapota received the second batch of lenacapavir PrEP medication from the United States.

Since its April rollout, lenacapavir has reached thousands of people in Lesotho through health facilities nationwide. The people of Lesotho have embraced this groundbreaking innovation in the fight against HIV. This long-acting PrEP reduces new infections and putting an HIV-free future within reach. With more doses coming, more people in Lesotho will soon have access to this lifesaving tool.

The U.S. Embassy Convened with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance and other key stakeholders for three days in dedicated meetings focused on collaboration and milestone planning.
Together they set clear benchmarks for successful use of U.S. foreign assistance to strengthen Lesotho’s fight against HIV/AIDS.
The milestone planning sets the course for the $364 million (approximately 6 billion maloti) U.S.-Lesotho Health MOU, ensuring lasting impact for generations to come.
