HIS MAJESTY ACCEPTS LETTERS OF CREDENCE FROM GREECE

The Hellenic Republic (Greece) Ambassador to Lesotho, Mr. Georgios Aravositas presented his letters of credence to His Majesty King Letsie III at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Wednesday.

Accepting letters of credence, His Majesty said the country cherishes Greece for her contribution towards the development of modern science, saying both countries share similarities as they fought for independence and sovereignty of national identity.

He said Mr. Aravositas presence in the country signifies solidarity and strengthens further the historical relations between the two countries which date back to 1987, saying the intention is to elevate these relations to greater heights.

He added that the Hellenic Republic contributed towards Lesotho’s development both socially and economically through the European Union.

His Majesty further congratulated the Hellenic Republic for bringing stability to her economy, assuring the Ambassador of his and Basotho’s unwavering support to make his tour of duty favourable.

Presenting letters of credence, Mr. Aravositas said both counties are deeply rooted in tradition, culture and independence, saying his country recognises Lesotho’s progress in the establishment of democratic institutions to promote human rights.

He also said as both countries share bilateral political relations, his presence will strengthen further relations in the areas of tourism and economy amongst others.

Meanwhile, Mr. Aravositas will pay a courtesy call to Prime Minister, Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane later today (Wednesday).
