HIS MAJESTY INAUGURATES NEW PRINCIPAL CHIEF OF MOKHOTLONG

His Majesty King Letsie III on Saturday officiated the inauguration of Chief Lerotholi Mathealira Seeiso as the new Principal Chief (PC) of Mokhotlong at the ceremony held at the Pitso ground within the Mokhotlong town.

His Majesty urged Chief Lerotholi Mathealira Seeiso to become a “Servant Leader” and serve all with love and without any discrimination.

He said Chief Lerotholi Mathealira Seeiso should also be respectful and walk in the footsteps of his father, the late Chief Mathealira Seeiso who passed away on December 30, 2021.

His Majesty said the ceremony was significant as it is happening after a long time since the installation of “Ntate moholo Mathe” as he (His Majesty) called him. The late Principal Chief was inaugurated in 1966.

“Since then, no event of a similar nature took place in Mokhotlong because God protected ntate moholo Mathe until 2021 when he departed from this world,” he stressed.

He further appealed to the Mokhotlong community to give the new Principal Secretary love and support just like they did to his father so that together they strive towards the development of Mokhotlong and Lesotho as a whole.

In conclusion, His Majesty said 2024 is an important year for Basotho as the country will be marking 200 years of the Basotho nation foundation.

His Majesty appreciated the support provided by the government through the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police for making the event successful.

Speaking at the same event, the Prime Minister, Mr. Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane congratulated the new PC for his inauguration, saying his responsibility as the Chief is to ensure that peace reigns for the Mokhotlong community.

Mr. Matekane advised Chief Tholo to seek advice from other people to achieve in his work.

Also speaking was the Minister of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, Mr. Lebona Lephema who requested God to give Chief Seeiso the Solomon wisdom to lead the community properly.

He promised to render the necessary support to him through the police to address numerous challenges facing the Mokhotlong community. highlighting stock theft

In his speech, Chief Lerotholi Mathealira Seeiso thanked all for making the historic event successful.

He requested the public to support him so that he could serve them efficiently., hence called on the Mokhotlong community to come on board and work with him so that the challenges that face the district can be addressed for sustainable development.

Other Chiefs and the community representative who were allowed to speak, also congratulated Chief Seeiso for being inaugurated and promised to support him.

Chief Lerotholi is the son of the late Chief Mathealira Seeiso. He was born in 1973 and is married and blessed with two daughters and a son.

The inauguration was preceded by the unveiling of a monument of Chief Mathealira Seeiso at his home village, Thabang.

Both ceremonies were witnessed by members of the Royal family and friends, the Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials and the general public.
