LESOTHO GOVERNMENT IS ACTIVELY PURSUING AFRICAN PARTNERSHIPS, TRADE AND INVESTMENT TO OVERCOME HISTORIC BARRIERS.

The Right Honourable the Prime Minister Samuel Matekane participated in the Breaking Barriers to Trade and Leadership Summit 2026 in Abuja, Nigeria, where African leaders, policymakers and business executives explored practical solutions to remove the barriers that had persisted too long between talent and opportunity and between ambition and access.
The event was attended by several distinguished African leaders and statesmen including former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. The summit called for bold, deliberate and collective action to unlock Africa’s economic potential through stronger trade, investment and leadership.
Government entourage included Minister of Trade, Industry and Small Business Development, Hon. Motlatsi Maqelepo, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Hon. Limpho Tau.
Lesotho’s commitment is to strengthen regional partnerships and advance economic cooperation across the continent.
