LHDA WARNS BASOTHO OF FRAUDSTERS

The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) has warned Basotho of a fraudulent recruitment site posing as that of LHDA, requesting job seekers to register for employment with the Authority.

LHDA Public Relations Manager, Mr. Mpho Brown urged Basotho not to share their personal information with the scam site as it is in no way related to the LHDA or its contractors and consultants operating under Phase II.

He also reminded the public that all LHDA recruitment is publicized and listed on LHDA official platforms and in local media, bearing full details of the job title, requisite qualification, experience and details on how and by when to apply.

He added that for recruitment related to unskilled labour, the Project Labour Recruitment Desk contacts registered individuals on details of their employment.

Asked what the Authority has done to prevent these acts, he said the Authority always informs and educates stakeholders including members of the public through public gatherings and other platforms like facebook about where, how and which job vacancies are legit.

He also urged members of the public who might have any information regarding scammers to report them to the Police so that they could be brought to book.

In conclusion, he said LHDA remains committed to ensuring that all recruitment related to its operations is transparent and aligned with its recruitment policies and guidelines, urging the public to remain vigilant and not fall victim to scammers and fraudulent employment opportunities masking as LHDA opportunities.

It is expected that Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) which is in progress will increase the current supply rate of 780 million cubic metres per annum to more than 1270 million cubic metres per annum, while at the same time increasing quantity of electricity generated in Lesotho.
