The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has decided to implement the Moshoeshoe I airport Master Plan instead of hiring another consultant.

In an interview with Lesotho News Agency (LENA), the Minister of Public Works and Transport Mr Matjato Moteane, on responding to the question on the progress of the master plan of the airport, said that they need a cheaper company that would work on the master plan instead of the previous one.

He said the Ministry has revised the concept note and has put aside the study that was done before, with the advice of experts from civil aviation.

He added that the International Civil Aviation Organization has also made an audit, saying by the end of this financial year, they will maintain equipment that is used to read traffic as well as to maintain lights.

Furthermore, he said they will reconsider the present terminal building starting from August this year, adding that resurfacing on the landing side will also be considered to accommodate bigger airplanes.

“We want to serve a broader market and reach other regional destinations,” he stressed.
