NPCC COMMEMORATES ARRIVAL OF MISSIONARIES

The National Prayer Coordinating Committee (NPCC) is expected to hold the annual National Day of Prayer to commemorate the arrival of missionaries in Lesotho.

Speaking in an interview with LENA, the General Secretary of NPCC, Ms. ‘Matšolofelo Nakanyane said that the event will be held on June 28th in Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village.

She stated that this year, especially with Lesotho celebrating 200 years of the founding of Basotho, NPCC will be hosting the descendants of Eugene Casalis and Thomas Arbousset at prayer.

She highlighted that for this year’s celebration, the National Day of Prayer will be commemorated under the theme ‘Reroute. Redirect. Realign’, adding that they are expecting the descendants of Eugene Casalis and Thomas Arbousset to be present.

“This year`s National Day of Prayer is special because it marks the Basotho Nations` Bicentennial”, she enthused.

The NPCC is an interdenominational committee that consists of Church Councils, Para Churches, Christian organizations and Prayer movements nationally and internationally.

The first Christian missionaries  reported  to arrive in Lesotho are  Eugene Casalis and Thomas Arbousset  in 1833.
