PETROLEUM FUND ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS

The Ministry of Natural Resources together with industry stakeholders held a meeting in Maseru on Wednesday.

The Minister of Natural Resources, Mr. Mohlomi Moleko said the meeting is about the cooperation of industry players within the petroleum downstream sector to discuss the issues pertaining to distribution, storage and retailing.

Mr. Moleko said the meeting will ensure wide access to petroleum products and related services are accessible to end users, saying the government will achieve its objectives of ensuring that petroleum products are evenly distributed across the country.

The Petroleum Fund Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Thato Mohasoa said stakeholders should meet frequently to address challenges experienced during times of work and to collectively come up with solutions that will ensure smooth operations within the sector.

Also speaking, the Petroleum Fund Operations Officer, Ms. Khahliso Lebeko Leleka said the meeting is meant to discuss pending issues which include storage of oil, distribution, and selling as well as pricing of oil around the country.

The Petroleum Fund in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources is in the process of implementing a mobile filling station project to ensure the security of petroleum products supply in the country as well as create job opportunities for local people, which will also stimulate the country’s economy.
