The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Facilitation Team headed by a Retired Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister, Dr Moeketsi Majoro.
Speaking in an interview, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Likopo Mahase revealed that the team is in a country to monitor the reform progress, especially now that National Reforms Authority (NRA) has been dissolved.
He said during this two-day visit, the team will meet with different stakeholders to find out their opinion on the NRA matters, saying they need to speed up the process to map a way forward as the Parliament is to be dissolved in July 07, 2022.
He further revealed that the government of Lesotho will take over and ensure that they implement and proceed with all the work of NRA following its dissolution.
The team arrived in the country this morning and is expected to leave the county on Thursday afternoon.
They are to meet with different stakeholders that include parties in Parliament, parties outside Parliament, the college of Chiefs, International partners and the Christian Council of Lesotho.
Lesotho’s journey of reforms started in 2018 with districts consultations to diaspora and other several activities, from the First and Second Multi Stakeholders (FSMS) meetings where comprehensive reforms report covering seven areas being constitution, security, economy, judiciary, public service, parliament and media was presented to the Mediator, Justice Moseneke on behalf of the SADC official Mediator, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa.
