Honourable Dr Retšelisitsoe Matlanyane is Minister of Finance and Development Planning of the Kingdom of Lesotho. She is a seasoned macroeconomic policy maker and expert who has served in various capacities both in Lesotho and elsewhere. Prior to serving in this position she served as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Lesotho from 2006 to 2011 and Governor from 2012 to 2021. She has also served at the International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s African Department between 2009 and 2011 as a country economist. She holds a PhD in Economics with specialization in Macroeconometric and Economy Wide Modelling from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and a Masters Degree with specialization in Monetary Economics and International Finance from the University of Botswana. She has served and continues to serve in various regional and international institutions in different capacities. These include the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), the Africa Training Institute (ATI) of the IMF and the Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute (MEFMI).
