TURKEY AMBASSADOR MEETS PM

The Ambassador of Turkey to Lesotho, Mrs. Aysegul Kandas paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister,  Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane on Wednesday.

When briefing the media, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr. Lejone Mpotjoane said Mrs. Kandas meeting with the Prime Minister was intended to maintain the existing relations between the two countries.

He disclosed that it was during this meeting whereby the Ambassador pledged Turkey’s intention to open the Embassy in Lesotho, saying the country has provided a site for such an Embassy.

However, he reminded the nation that Turkey was hit by the earthquake earlier this year thus it might take her time to construct the Embassy in Lesotho.

Mr. Mpotjoane said both the Ambassador and the Prime Minister agreed to open market and economic opportunities, saying the Ambassador pledged to develop the existing educational and health projects in Lesotho and highlighted that Turkey aims to open an international school in the country.

On the other hand, Ambassador Kandas confirmed that they discussed Turkey’s projects in Lesotho which include the refurbishment of Scott Hospital and the women entrepreneurship project, saying they are intending to establish income-generating projects and open an international school.

She added that she will meet with the Ministers of Education and Training as well as that of Foreign Affairs and International Relations to discuss further these projects.
