VODACOM LESOTHO FOUNDATION DONATES SCHOOL SHOES

The Vodacom Lesotho Foundation through the Ministry of Education and Training donated 2000 pairs of shoes to underprivileged students.

When accepting the donation, the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Training, Dr John Oliphant stressed the importance of investing in education, which he said nurtures the leaders of tomorrow.

He said education is an inherent right for every child in Lesotho, therefore commended Vodacom for its commitment to promoting quality education for Basotho children.

Dr Oliphant also shed light on the significance of meeting the basic needs of students, particularly through the provision of shoes, saying the shoes play a pivotal role in boosting a child’s confidence, which in turn translates to improved academic performance.

Handing over the shoes, the Vodacom Lesotho Executive Head of Regulatory and External Affairs, Mr. Tšepo Ntaopane expressed the long-standing partnership between Vodacom Lesotho and the Ministry of Education and Training, citing their shared journey towards achieving remarkable milestones and the common goal of enhancing education for young people.

Mr. Ntaopane reaffirmed Vodacom’s unwavering commitment to supporting the government’s efforts to ensure that every Mosotho child has access to quality education.

The distribution plan for the donated shoes was also unveiled and the targeted areas are Thaba-Tseka, Qacha’s Nek, Quthing, Mokhotlong, and Semonkong. It is envisaged that each district is set to receive 400 pairs of shoes.

The collaborative efforts between the Vodacom Lesotho Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Training serve as an exemplary model of corporate social responsibility.
