ANTI-CORRUPTION MOU SIGNED IN MASERU

Lesotho, in partnership with Botswana,  Eswatini, Namibia and South Africa have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) intended to enhance the fight against corruption at an event held in Maseru on Friday.

Speaking at this event, the Director General of the Lesotho Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offence Adv. Knorx Molelle said the MoU comes in as a way of creating awareness of corruption cases between the said countries and also building lasting relations that will promote the exchange of information in efforts aimed at ending corruption.

He added that it is also for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to revive itself as a region and build collaborations as they all have the same mandate of reaching corruption-free zones.

Adv. Molelle however mentioned that it is important for such relations to be built as collectively the countries can put an end to corruption which seems to be facing their countries.

On behalf of the signing member countries, Mrs. Priscilla Israel applauded the commitment showing the countries’ willingness to push boundaries with the aim of fighting corruption in their respective countries.

She mentioned that as the five countries, they should be able to well and fully implement the agreements of the MoU to ensure that corruption-free zones are achieved.

The collaboration of the five countries is expected to be sealed with friendly games that are expected to resume on Saturday.
