ESWATINI, THAILAND PRESENT CREDENTIALS

His Majesty King Letsie III accepted credentials from the High Commissioner of Eswatini to Lesotho, Ms. Lindiwe Kunene and Mr. Mungkorn Pratoomkaew, the Ambassador of Thailand at the event held at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Thursday.

Welcoming Eswatini Representative, His Majesty said both Lesotho and Eswatini should deepen their relations through Foreign Affairs, work together to achieve challenges such as violence against women and girls as well as explore how to tackle the unemployment rate facing the youth.

“We also need the collaboration of our stakeholders so that they can work together in enhancing the two countries’ economic growth,” His Majesty stressed.

He advised the High Commissioner to work harder and take relations of the two Kingdoms to higher levels as anchored in their national ties.

To Thailand, His Majesty alluded to an agricultural project based in Matsieng, which he said contributes significantly to promoting self-reliance among the community.

Furthermore, he mentioned that Basotho have benefited tremendously from long and short-term education programmes offered by Thailand.

Presenting her credentials, Ms. Kunene assured His Majesty and the people of Lesotho of her commitment towards the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to take full advantage of the opportunities provided for under goods and in services.

On the other hand, Mr. Protoomkaew said Thailand and Lesotho share common values in the areas of agriculture and development.

“I am committed to improving cordial relations between the two countries.” He said.

Eswatini and Thailand are reported to have relations based on common goals and aspirations they share that relate to agriculture among others.
