The Ministry of the Public Service held an induction programme for sub-committees tasked with preparing for the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) Round Table Conference, which the Kingdom of Lesotho will host from 8 to 10 December 2026.
Delivering opening remarks on behalf of the Principal Secretary, Deputy Principal Secretary Mr. Ntsu Shale said the induction programme is intended to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to effectively carry out their responsibilities ahead of the continental conference.
Mr. Shale noted that the Kingdom of Lesotho is a member of AAPAM, an organisation established to strengthen the management and capabilities of public administration and public service across Africa.
He further stated that while Public Service Day is celebrated globally on 23 June, Lesotho commemorates the occasion in November. He said it is a great honour for the country to host the conference in the year that Lesotho marks 60 years of independence.
Emphasizing the importance of quality service delivery, Mr. Shale said public service is fundamentally about serving the people. He added that the induction programme would provide an opportunity for in-depth discussions on the roles and functions of each sub-committee to ensure successful preparations for the conference.
The AAPAM Round Table Conference is expected to bring together public administration and management experts, policymakers and government officials from across the continent to discuss ways of improving governance and public service delivery.
