HIS MAJESTY ASPIRES FOR LONG RELATIONS BETWEEN LESOTHO AND POLAND

His Majesty King Letsie III has called for long term bilateral relations between Lesotho and Poland to strengthen various areas of cooperation to develop the two countries.

His Majesty said this when accepting credentials from the Ambassador of Poland to Lesotho, Mr. Adam Burakowski at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Thursday.

He said the two countries have long standing relations that existed between the two countries for the last 45 years, saying interaction has been less, thus limiting areas of cooperation.

His Majesty, therefore, appealed to the newly appointed Ambassador to ensure the strengthening of these relations so that young Basotho can have opportunities to receive education and training in many areas.

“Let us strive towards exploring markets offered by the EU through the Southern African Development Community (SADC),” he said.

He also thanked Poland through the European Union that saw Lesotho receiving support during the COVID-19 era, hence many lives of Basotho were saved.

Presenting his credentials, Ambassador Burakowski said both Lesotho and Poland work to achieve common goals that include Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) known as Agenda 2030 to fight poverty and hunger among others.

He mentioned that the pair still have an economic agreement through imports and exports, remarking that during his tenure as the Ambassador of Poland to Lesotho, he will work towards ensuring the revival and implementation of this initiative.

He commended all efforts by Lesotho which saw the lives of Basotho being saved during the scourge of COVID-19.

The Minister of Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, Arts and Social Development, Mr. Pitso Lesaoana who is acting on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations was also present.
