The Director for Regional Integration in collaboration with the SADC SNRL programme funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Corporation and Development and the Deutsche Gesellschaft Für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) will launch the Lesotho publication on SADC success stories and a learning and exchange symposium on Strengthening Capacities of SADC National Structures for effective Coordination and Communication on 03 July 2023 in Maseru, Lesotho.

According to the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, the objective of the symposium is to facilitate an exchange of knowledge, experiences, and tools in a way that will enhance the levels of knowledge and understanding of the SADC regional integration architecture and processes among officials of national coordination structures.

The symposium will also provide an opportunity for Member States to exchange practical experiences and models to support the establishment, full operation and sustainability of SADC Coordination Structures.

The symposium also aims to enhance the capacities of national structures towards development and more effective communication strategies and products that will enhance awareness of the benefits of regional integration, contribute with critical analysis of national policies and strategies and ensure mainstreaming of the regional agreements at the national level.

It is during this awareness raising discussion that the official launch of the Lesotho SADC Success Stories Booklet will be key. The Lesotho SADC Success Stories Booklet showcases some of the achievements derived from Lesotho’s membership in SADC.

The symposium is expected to take three days.
