The Minister of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, Mr. Lebona Lephema commended Letšeng Diamonds for the gift of a motor vehicle which is meant to assist police response efficiently to providing services to the community.

Mr. Lephema said the vehicle will help in a way that it will reach places where it has been hard to reach due to Lesotho’s terrain.

He urged those who will be in charge of it to use it efficiently for the benefit of the nation.

As one of the measures to fight crime in the country, Letšeng Diamonds Mine handed over a motor vehicle to the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) at an event held at Police Headquarters in Maseru on Friday.

In her opening remarks, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mahlape Morai said they are grateful for the social responsibility taken by the Letšeng Diamonds to donate motor vehicles to LMPS.

She said this is going to help in the fight against crime and help the police officers to attend to crime scenes on time, the diamond and drugs unit to be precise.

Speaking on behalf of the Letšeng Diamonds, Mr. Tšepo Hlojeng said one of their principal objectives is giving back to the community.

Mr. Hlojeng highlighted that their focus is mainly on alternatives to employment, education, and crime prevention, hence the handing over of the motor vehicle.
