MINISTER PRESENTS SATELLITE NEWS VEHICLE TO LNBS

The Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Ms. Nthati Moorosi presented a Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) vehicle worth M4.5 million at Lesotho National Broadcasting Services (LNBS) premises on Monday.

In her remarks, the Minister said the DSNG will go a long way to ensure the provision of news stories and coverage outside of a television studio, thus providing the audience with timely news while keeping up with today’s dynamic world.

She urged the staff to protect and use this equipment effectively so that it can improve the quality of news dissemination within LNBS.

At a similar event, the Minister also launched Radio Lesotho toll-free number “Re Hlaba Patsana,” 80093030 and WhatsApp 63221133, where people can call and alert relevant authorities in cases of emergencies in their communities.

She appealed to Basotho, especially children, to avoid misusing this number so that matters of emergencies can be attended to when they happen in order to achieve positive feedback.

In the same token, LNBS acting Director-General, Mr. Dyke Sehloho thanked the Ministry through the Minister for having procured this equipment, thus changing the working scenario of the broadcasting fraternity.

On behalf of the staff, Mrs. ‘Maliteboho Lefeta from Lesotho Television appealed to her colleagues to have an attitude filled with gratitude and appreciate the little things they have in order to serve the nation with humility.

In an attempt to also improve both visuals and audio work under LNBS, the Agency has established that LNBS is in the process of doing situational analysis, establishing and costing the nature of equipment needed for future improvements.

Present at this occasion included the Principal Secretary (PS) Mr Lira Moeti and Chief Engineer Tlali Manosa who gave an in-depth analysis of how DSNG operates, management from different departments in the Ministry as well as staff.
