PM LEAVES FOR MAPUTO  

The Prime Minister, Dr. Moeketsi Majoro left the country for Maputo, Mozambique to participate in the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Extraordinary Summit scheduled for June 23.
The summit under the theme “40 Years Building Peace and Security and Promoting Development and Resilience in the Face of Global Challenges” will be attended by Heads of State and Government and preceded by Senior Officials and Ministerial sessions.
Issues to be discussed during the summit include the regional response and support to the Republic of Mozambique in addressing terrorism, an update on the COVID-19 pandemic at a regional level and the commemoration of the SADC 40 Anniversary.
The Prime Minister’s delegation includes the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mrs. ’Matšepo Molise-Ramakoae and of Defence and National Security, Mr. Halebonoe Setšabi as well as Senior Government Officials.
SADC’s main objectives are to achieve development, peace and security and economic growth, to alleviate poverty, enhance the standard of life of the people of Southern Africa, support the socially disadvantage through regional integration, built on democratic principles and equitable and sustainable development.
