PM MEETS POLITICAL LEADERS ON REFORMS

In preparations to resume with the National Reforms, the Prime Minister, Mr. Ntsokoane Samuel Matekane met with the leaders of political parties in Maseru on Monday.

Mr. Matekane showed that the purpose of this meeting with political leaders is to have their input towards completing the reforms process.

 

He said upon resuming office as the new government, they received reports from the ministries related to the reforms processes which called for the implementation of the national reforms.

At the same meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister, Justice Nthomeng Majara delineated that the government would like to table its recommendations towards the implementation of the national reforms which include the 10th Amendment to the Constitution bill or the Omnibus bill as commonly
known.

She added that there is no hesitation that the bill needs to be tackled by the Parliament and all the relevant stakeholders as divided into 3 sections of a simple majority, 2/3 majority as well as e referendum as this will be in line with the guidelines of the constitution.

The Deputy Prime Minister however noted that Lesotho is a nation founded on peace and unity and the visit to the Senate affords an opportunity to look back and exemplify brotherly and sisterly love and respect towards meaningful cooperation among stakeholders for the benefit of Basotho.

Present at this meeting were the leaders of Democratic Congress, Mr. Mathibeli Mokhothu, the leader of Basotho Action Party (BAP) Professor Nqosa Mahao, the leader of Socialist Revolutionaries (SR) Advocate Teboho Mojapela, the leader of Popular Front for Democracy (PFD) Advocate Lekhetho Rakuoane and Mr. Samonyane Ntsekele of the All Basotho Convention (ABC).

This is reportedly a follow-up meeting as it has been held before at the Manthabiseng Convention Centre.
