STANDARD LESOTHO BANK LAUNCHES MOBILE BANK

Standard Lesotho Bank Mobile Bank (Se-ea-le-Methati) responds to the needs of Basotho especially those residing in the hard to reach areas of the country.
This, the Head of Branch Banking, Mrs. ‘Maleteka Moshabesha said at the launch of Standard Lesotho Bank Mobile Bank held in Maseru. The Se-ea-le-Methati is a mobile bank fitted on a truck aimed at bringing banking services close to Basotho.
Mrs. Moshabesha said the Se-ea-le-Methati provides basic banking services that include ATM, teller services and customer consultant services which are usually found inside traditional branches.
She noted that through this mobile bank, the bank will be able to accommodate the overflow at the ATM as it will provide services during peak times and be used to provide services during events.
Mrs. Moshabesha pointed out that Se-ea-le-Methati will provide backup services for branches for purposes of business continuity where the branches are not able to operate for a variety of reasons.
She further added that this was evident when COVID-19 cases were reported at some branches and such branches ended up being closed.
Speaking at the same occasion, Regional Manager, South Mr. Lehlohonolo Mataboee said the mobile bank is going to give the Bank an opportunity to provide services to underserved remote areas throughout the country, where amongst others it will facilitate the disbursement of grants.
He said the launch demonstrates the extent to which the Bank is committed to ensuring that the banking services are accessible to Basotho, adding that this will help the Bank achieve its strategy thus being a customer eccentric organisation that puts customers at the centre of everything.
Also speaking, Head of Direct Banking, Mr. Teboho Sello revealed that as part of its operational procedures, Se-ea-le-Methati will not be carrying cash, however, noted that it will be serviced with cash similar to ATMs. He added that it will also be accompanied by high security to ensure the safety of the personnel and infrastructure.
Prior to the launch, Se-ea-le-Methati relieved ATMs in Maseru, Mahobong in Leribe and Maputsoe as well as serving communities in the area of Ts’akholo in Mafeteng.
