ECONET BIDS FAREWELL TO STUDENTS

The Econet Telecom Lesotho through Higher Life Foundation bids farewell to the two students who will be leaving for the United States of America (USA) next week.

The two beneficiaries, namely Nthati Lehloenya and Mahali Maapesa received a fully funded Scholarship to study in the USA. They are both from the Leribe district.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training, Institute of Development Management-Country Director, Dr Moeketsi Letele said education is key, saying the foundation policies align with SGD 4 thus ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.

He congratulated the students, saying their hard work and dedication paid off, saying if it was not for their hard work, they could have not gathered to bid them a farewell.

He urged the private sector to accept the challenge, saying the Higher Life Foundation has set the bar high and the government is willing to work with the private sector to provide quality education for all.

Also speaking, the ETL CEO, Mr. Dennis Plaatjies said the Higher Life Foundations help vulnerable students across the country.

He noted that the foundation has 303 students this year that will receive a fully funded scholarship.

He said the two beneficiaries were given an opportunity to pursue IB in Eswatini and both did well hence they will be given a chance to further their studies in the USA.

He urged them to work hard and make Lesotho proud, saying they are now representing the country.

Giving the vote of thanks, Nthati Lehloenya, expressed gratitude to the foundation, saying her life transformed the day their paths crossed.

She noted she could have not made it this far if it was not for Econet, saying it would not have been easy for her to continue with her studies due to financial constraints.

She, therefore, thanked her mother for always giving her support and love, noting that she is going to make her proud.

Higher life Foundation is a social impact organization that invests in human capital to build thriving individuals, communities, and sustainable livelihoods.

Since its establishment in 2011, the foundation has sponsored 524 students and 20 of them had a chance to study abroad.
