The Deputy Leader of the Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) has confirmed the passing on of the member of the party and former Minister of Forestry and Land Reclamation, Mr. Khotso Matla.

Speaking in an interview with the Agency on Wednesday, Mr. Tšeliso Mokhotsi said that Mr. Matla met his death following his long-time illness in Ha Matala where he was under the care of his daughter.

He said the deceased will be remembered for his tireless efforts that he has put toward the growth of the party and the country as well.

He mentioned that amongst some of the positive impacts he made in this country as minister include the introduction of fruit tree seedlings which he initiated for their production within the country as opposed to being imported.

He added that the deceased also advocated for the construction of dams across the country which will be used for agricultural purposes.

Mr. Mokhosi further mentioned that before joining politics and becoming the Member of Parliament for the Tsikoane constituency, the deceased made many cooperatives work while also working for Basotho Hut.

Mr. Khotso Matla also served as the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry.

He is survived by his three children two sons and a daughter. It is expected that he will be buried with a state funeral on a date that is yet to be confirmed.
