The Principal Chief of Matsieng, Chief Seeiso Bereng Seeiso has described the late former Minister of Forestry and Land Reclamation, Mr. Khotso Matla as an honest person when dealing with national issues.
Chief Seeiso said this when addressing mourners at the Official Funeral of the late former Minister of Forestry and Land Reclamation, Mr. Matla held at Ha Ramoloi Tsikoane in Leribe on Friday.
He said whenever the deceased was not clear with some issues, he would approach it humbly for correction.
Chief Seeiso said the late Mr. Matla had good leadership skills.
He added that the deceased loved his nationality and urged Basotho to unite as a nation.
Also speaking, the Prime Minister, Mr. Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane said the deceased worked hard for Basotho and the country.
” Let him rest for he has worked, ” he said.
On behalf of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Member of Parliament for Mabote Constituency, Mr. Lethole Lethole said the deceased served consecutive three terms in Parliament.
He commented that it is with honour that he has lived for 78 years, saying most people do not live this long.
Present at the funeral were Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament including the Leader of Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) which the deceased was a member, Mr. Mothetjoa Metsing and the general public.
The late Mr. Matla was elected as a candidate for the Tsikoane constituency in 2004 and later appointed as the minister of Trade and Industry, Cooperatives and Marketing. He also served as a minister of Forestry and Land Reclamation.
Mr. Khotso Matla was born on 6th June 1945 and died on December 26, 2023, after suffering from a stroke since 2019.
