HEALTH MINISTER LAUNCHES CITIZEN APP

The Minister of health, Mr. Semano Sekatle on Friday officially launched COVID-19 Citizen App at the event held at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Maseru.
The COVId-19 Citizen is a free App for a mobile phones that will help users to retrieve their COVID-19 vaccination Digital Certificate and get COVID-19 related issues.
The app is used to alert the most dangerous places of covid-19. Also, it has self-screening, and everything related to covid-19.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Sekatle expressed gratitude to Tafari Capital for developing this app, saying this application will help Basotho in a long run.
He noted that people with smartphones will be able to retrieve their COVID-19 vaccination Digital Certificate.
“The error of vaccination cards that has no bar code has now been solved, vaccine cards can now be scanned,” he said, commenting that everyone who is vaccinated should go to the hospitals or health centre where they got vaccinated so that their vaccination cards get a barcode, saying these cards will be scanned when people cross to South Africa.
Also speaking Tafari Capital Chairperson, Dr Thabo Lehlokoa said he is excited to witness the launch of the Citizen App, saying when COVID-19 emerged, it caught everyone by surprise so as the IT company, they developed the Citizen App and presented it to the government of South Africa.
He noted that they later got a request from Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso COVID-19 Trust Fund to help in fighting COVID-19 hence they invented the Citizen App in Lesotho.
He said this App will help improve the economy of the country and also ease the services at the border posts.
Dr Lehlokoa noted that this app is amongst the top 5 apps in the world designed to help combat the spread of COVId-19.
He said the App can also be used by non-citizens who live in the country, saying using the citizen App along with the existing public health measures will help everyone stay safe when travelling, working and socializing.
The citizen app is freely accessible and it is available on the Apple store, App gallery and google play or on the link citizen app.co.ls.
